Toma Café
Malasaña, Madrid
It’s true that I tend to get obsessed with certain coffee shops. When I lived in Brooklyn I was only a few blocks away from Cafe Grumpy, where I spent many a days plugging away with the rest of the freelancers. Another location was conveniently located a few blocks from one of my jobs in Chelsea.
When i worked on the Upper West Side, Joe’s Coffee was my lifeline as I was desperately trying to stay awake during a time where the line felt like it was blurred between a night shift and an early morning job.
In my later visits to Philly, I was introduced to Federal Donuts, whose cold brewed coffee was my mid-run treat from Fishtown to South Philly.
Needless to say, I’ve felt a bit empty in a city where coffee is lacking inspiration. But alas, I have found my latest obsession.
